Belvedere – What was once an island, the town of Belvedere is now connected to the Tiburon peninsula by a man-made causeway. With one of the highest income-per-capita averages in the nation and sweeping views of San Francisco from across the Golden Gate Bridge, here you will find bay area living at its finest.
Fairfax – Fairfax is one of the most quaint and laid-back towns in Marin county. Known for its summer Fairfax
Festival, Fairfax is the gateway between Marin proper and the more rural West Marin area. With a plethora of redwood trees the area is known for and the San Geronimo golf course close by, Fairfax truly has some of the best that Marin has to offer.
Larkspur – Larkspur is a lovely town that mostly lies inland but reaches the edge of the bay. It is at this place in Larkspur that Marin’s largest ferry terminal shuttles passengers to San Francisco and Angel Island. Because of the ferry, Larkspur is a great place for folks who want to enjoy Marin County living while still being able to commute without a car to the city for work and play.
Greenbrae – Greenbrae has some of the most condo-style living in Marin County. Also known for a large retirement and assisted living community know as The Tam, Greenbrae.
Mill Valley – Resting under the auspices of Mt. Tamalpais, Mill Valley was originally a logging town that got its name from a lumber mill. With Stinson Beach just ride over Panoramic Highway, mountain tops (which sometimes snow) and the Pacific Ocean are all within reach.
Corte Madre – Combing old world charm and modern convenience, Corte Madre is home for the historic village square and some of the best shopping in the North Bay. Corte Madre is conveniently located in South Central Marin and borders either side of the 101 freeway. Corte Madre also has many parks including a 22-acre park with tennis and basketball courts, baseball fields and soccer facilities.
San Rafael – San Rafael can be first traced back to December of 1817 when Spanish Franciscans founded Mission San Rafael Archangel at the foot of San Rafael Hill. This lively town holds the 20th of California’s 21 missions. In 1874, San Rafael became Marin’s first city. Just 17 miles north of San Francisco, this commercial, cultural, governmental and historical city holds over 560,000 residents and is surrounded by wooded, grassy hillsides, the remarkable bay and lies west of highway 101 where scores of retail shops and restaurants line downtown streets.
Tiburon - This wealthy community formerly known as the working- class railroad town, lies on the edge of the bay that gives many homes remarkable views of the San Francisco Bay, Richardson Bay and Mount Tamalpais. Tiburon is famous for its Yacht clubs, parks, bike paths, wildlife sanctuary and of course its views.
San Anselmo - Though larger than many of its neighbors, this small intimate town located between Ross and Fairfax is well known for their 130 antique dealers, as well as their bookstores, coffee shops, boutiques and restaurants along San Anselmo Ave next to Creek Park. San Anselmo is self proclaimed as the “Antiques Capital of Northern California”
Ross – Nestled in Central Marin’s Ross Valley, Ross has some of the oldest and most exclusive estates in the county. The convergence of lush living and small town charm makes Ross an excellent example of what Marin County is all about.
